Adjustable Hand Reamers

An adjustable hand reamer is a tool used to smooth the bore walls of a drilled hole when precise sizing is necessary. The blades of an adjustable reamer are separate from the body and are fitted into ramped grooves in the body. As the blade slides along the groove the cutting diameter is changed.Reamer tools are radially symmetrical tools with either straight, slightly twisted, or spiral fluted cutting surfaces that are ground to a very precise diameter. They are used to finish holes that have been drilled, end-milled, or punched, leaving them with very accurate dimensions.The reamer is introduced into a pre-drilled hole that is slightly smaller than the desired final size. As it rotates, the cutting edges scrape away a thin layer of the material, enlarging the hole to its final diameter with exceptional accuracy and surface finish.
