Aluminum Air Terminal is a lightning protection system component used for the purpose of intercepting and discharging lightning current safely to the ground. Materials: Aluminum Air Terminal shall be made from high-grade aluminum alloy conforming to ASTM B209 or equivalent. The terminal tip shall be made of stainless steel, bronze or other suitable corrosion-resistant material. Dimensions: The Aluminum Air Terminal shall have a height of 100mm to 300mm and a base diameter of 30mm to 75mm. The terminal tip shall have a diameter of not less than 3mm. Design and Construction: The Aluminum Air Terminal shall be designed to provide a continuous path for lightning current from the point of attachment to the ground. The terminal shall be tapered to a point at the top for effective discharge of lightning current. The base of the terminal shall be designed to facilitate easy installation onto a lightning protection system mast or conductor. Installation: The Aluminum Air Terminal shall be installed at the highest point of the lightning protection system or structure. The terminal shall be securely mounted on a mast or conductor using suitable hardware. The terminal shall be installed in such a way that it does not obstruct the flow of lightning current to the ground. Testing: Each Aluminum Air Terminal shall be tested in accordance with IEEE 1313.1 or equivalent standards to ensure its electrical and mechanical integrity. The testing shall include high voltage impulse testing, corrosion resistance testing, and mechanical strength testing. Documentation: The manufacturer shall provide a detailed installation manual with each Aluminum Air Terminal. The manual shall include information on installation, testing, and maintenance procedures.
