Description

An anilox roll is a hard cylinder, usually constructed of a steel or aluminum core which is coated by an industrial ceramic, typically Chromium oxide powder, whose surface is engraved with millions of very fine dimples, known as anilox cells.Anilox rolls are the hard steel or aluminum cylinders that are coated by an industrial ceramic. The surface of the anilox rolls are laser engraved with very tiny dips, forming anilox cells. The anilox roller is part of a printing ink unit and, as a storage medium, is responsible for providing a defined amount of ink during the printing process. There are tiny depressions on the surface of the anilox rollers.A flexographic inking system is sometimes known as an anilox system. The purpose of the anilox roller is to pick up ink from the fountain roller (or, in some configurations, directly from the ink fountain) and deliver a predetermined, metered, uniform amount of ink to the rubber printing plate.
