Description
🧾 What Is an Antistatic Wrist Strap (PU)? An antistatic wrist strap is a safety device worn by people working with sensitive electronic components (like PCBs, CPUs, and semiconductors). It prevents electrostatic discharge (ESD) — sudden static electricity that can damage electronic circuits. The PU version means the strap or coil cord is made of polyurethane, a flexible, durable, and lightweight material that resists wear and chemical damage. ⚙️ Main Components Wrist Band: Made from PU, conductive fibers, or elastic fabric. Worn snugly around the wrist to ensure skin contact. Cord (Coil Cord): PU spiral cable that connects the band to a grounding point. Usually 1.8–2.4 meters long when stretched. Inner wire: multi-strand copper or stainless steel for conductivity. Alligator Clip / Banana Plug: Clips onto a grounded surface or ESD mat. Resistor (Safety Feature): Typically 1 megaohm (1 MΩ) resistor in series to safely discharge static electricity without shocking the user. ⚡ How It Works Static charge from your body flows through the wrist strap, resistor, and ground cord to earth ground. This keeps your body at the same electrical potential as the grounded workstation, preventing static discharge into sensitive parts. 💪 Key Features Conductive PU band with high flexibility Adjustable and comfortable for long use PU coiled cord — stretchable and tangle-free Durable stainless-steel or copper connecton
