Beds Type Milling Machine

A bed-type milling machine is a type of milling machine used in industrial manufacturing that features a large, flatbed or base upon which the workpiece is mounted. The cutting tool or tools are mounted on a vertical or horizontal spindle that moves along the bed to remove material from the workpiece.turret milling machines and bed milling machines. In a turret milling machine, the spindle and table can move perpendicular and parallel to the axis. In comparison, bed milling machines only move the table perpendicular to the axis.The vertical milling machine is a precision tool used for shaping and fabrication by the removal of stock typically from metallic work pieces. Plastics and other materials can also be machined on the mill depending upon tooling and material.Where as in a normal milling machine the spindle rotates on its axis and the cutters are held in it. Turret mills have a quill which lets the cutter move up and down like in a drill press.
