It can be used in industries as an adhesive, ptotectlve coating, bonding agent, electric insulator and for anticorrosion of structures below ground Because of its softening point,it shows excellent physical stability, no exudation or bleeding in contact with mainly absorptive material and a remarkable resistance against atmospheric corrosion. Oxidized bitumen conforms to IS: 7021-988 and is characterized mainly by its softening point and penetration. Penetration value is obtained by penetration apparatus according to IS:1203/1978
