Clay manufacturing can be either via a dry or wet/slurry process. Manufacture is comprised of a number of phases; extraction, blending (where necessary), crushing and drying. Each stage requires certain competencies and machinery to ensure that we always offer the most optimum product for each application.Common clay and shale generally are mined, processed, formed, and fired at the same site to produce the end product. Processing generally begins with primary crushing and stockpiling. The material then is ground and screened. Oversize material may be further ground to produce particles of the desired size.The three main pieces of clay processing equipment are clay mixers, pugmills, and pugger-mixers. Clay mixers only mix clay body ingredients and are also used to recycle clay scraps. Pug mills homogenizes clay that has already been mixed. Pugger-mixers can do both.
