A turret punch, also called a turret press, is a machine that uses punching to form metal shapes. Turret punching involves pushing a punch through a piece of metal to create a hole. There may be a die on the other side of the hole to contain the metal.As their name implies, CNC turret presses consist of a large index able turret that can hold over 50 different punches and dyes that are computer-controlled to create unique features and shapes. CNC punch presses are electromagnetically devices that move tools and generate patterns from a software file using computer programming inputs. These machines are available with a single head and tool rail or a multi-tool turret.The CNC punching machine is basically programmed to move a sheet of metal in an x and y direction so as to accurately position the sheet under the machine's punching ram ready to punch a hole or form.
