A COD Thermo Reactor (also called a COD Reactor, COD Digester, or Thermo-Reactor) is a laboratory heating/digestion device used in Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) testing. It heats sealed COD sample vials to a controlled high temperature for a set time so that the organic and some inorganic substances in the sample are oxidized by a strong oxidizing agent (commonly potassium dichromate) under standardized conditions.
