In fixed form paving, side forms are used to hold fresh in place at the proper grade and alignment until it sets and hardens. It lays the material flat and provides minor compaction.The essential difference between slip-form and fixed-form methods is on the way the form work is fitted. In slip-form method the form work which is attached to the paver moves along with the paver during paving operation. Compaction and finishing of concrete are carried out within the length of a single machine.
