Description

A constant voltage transformer (also called a ferroresonant transformer) is a special kind of transformer designed to maintain a nearly constant output voltage despite wide fluctuations in the input (within a certain range). It does this using the principle of magnetic resonance (i.e. combining inductance and a tuned capacitance) so that when the input moves above or below a certain range, the output remains stable.
