A conveyor system will always consist of a head pulley and a tail pulley, The head pulley is located at the discharge point of the conveyor. It usually drives the conveyor and often has a larger diameter than other pulleys. For better traction, the head pulley is usually lagged (with either rubber or ceramic lagging material, A conveyor pulley used for the purpose of redirecting a conveyor belt back to the drive pulley. Tail pulleys can utilize internal bearings or can be mounted in external bearings and are typically located at the end of the conveyor bed.
