Dal Plant

Dal is edible split pulse. Edible pulse are obtained from the pods of leguminous plants. Leguminous plants are those plants that flower and their fruits are always pods. Green peas are the best example of legume, and of leguminous plant. Dal /lentil is a staple food throughout the Indian subcontinent. The pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan) is a perennial legume from the family Fabaceae native to the Old World. The pigeon pea is widely cultivated in tropical and semitropical regions around the world, being commonly consumed in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
