Dry Type Transformer

What is a dry-type transformer? Unlike their liquid-filled counterparts, dry-type transformers do not incorporate liquid to dissipate excess heat and meet temperature classification requirements. Instead, the coils within a dry-type transformer are constructed of a gaseous or dry insulation medium." Dry-type" is a reference to the type of insulation medium, which means that the core and coil is cooled and insulated by air, as opposed to "liquid immersed" transformers that use oil as the coolant/insulant. “Low-voltage” means that it has an input voltage of 600 volts or less. Generally copper and are used to make the winding or coil. Though copper is better conductor, conductor wound transformer possesses low cost and weight. For the same current rating, copper conductor with less cross section is used as the winding material in the transformer.
