Plate Earthing Systems

The earthing system, where a copper or galvanized iron plate is used to connect all the earthing conductors to the earth is called Plate Earthing. A plate made up of galvanized copper or iron is buried vertically at a depth of not less than 3m from ground level.An earthing system (UK and IEC) or grounding system (US) connects specific parts of an electric power system with the ground, typically the Earth's conductive surface, for safety and functional purposes. The choice of earthing system can affect the safety and electromagnetic compatibility of the installation.In plate earthing, an earthing plate made of copper or G.I. is buried into the ground at a depth more than 3 metres from the ground level. This earthing plate is embedded in an alternative layer of coke and salts. Strip earthing is used in transmission processes.
