Electric hoist is a kind of special lifting equipment, referred to as electric hoist.Electric Hoists are a type of lifting equipment that is used for lifting, lowering, and moving heavy and large objects. The main types of electric hoists are Electric Chain Hoists and the Electric wire Rope Hoist.There are three principal types of hoists used in mining applications, Drum Hoists, Friction (or Kope) hoists and Blair multi-rope hoists. Hoist can be defined as anything that is used to lift any heavy materials.Electric chain hoists have an induction motor and a brake to ensure the load is held when lifting (enabling heavy objects/loads to be lifted safely). The motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy which can then lift the load/weight.
