Hot water sanitization is an excellent method for preventing microorganism growth and biofilm formation without the use of harmful biocide chemicals. There is also the option of a two-pass RO system with intermediate EDI or RO-EDI with a final stage of UF. The basic structure of an EDI stack is similar to that of a deionization chamber. An ion exchange resin is packed between a cationic exchange membrane and an anionic exchange membrane in the chamber. Only ions can pass through the membrane; water cannot.
