Emery Roll

An Emery Roll Machine (also known as an Emery Roller Rice Whitener or Dehusker) is a specialized industrial machine used in the grain processing industry to remove the outer husk, hull, or bran layer from grains and pulses. It operates using an abrasive action: a high-speed rotating roller coated with emery (black silicon carbide and resin) creates friction against the grain. As the grain passes between the abrasive roller and a stationary perforated screen, the outer layer is "scoured" off without damaging the internal kernel.
