Crude Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) is an intermediate-grade chlorinated hydrocarbon, primarily produced by the direct chlorination or oxychlorination of ethylene. Unlike refined EDC, the crude grade contains impurities such as heavier and lighter chlorinated hydrocarbons, unreacted ethylene, and water. It serves mainly as a feedstock in the production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), which is the precursor for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturing.
