Description

The engine must provide sufficient horsepower (HP) to drive the pump at the required duty (flow & head) plus losses. In fire-pump specs (for example per NFPA 20) the engine must be able to take pump at 150% rated discharge at 65% rated head. Also check that the engine speed (rpm) matches pump design (many fire pumps are 1500 rpm for 50 Hz systems).
