Description
FRP (Fibreglass Reinforced Plastics, also known as GRP, or Glass Reinforced Plastics) is a modern composite material of construction for chemical plant equipment like tanks and vessels. Chemical equipment that range in size from less than a metre to 20 metres are fabricated using FRP as material of construction.Fibre reinforced plastic (FRP), is a somersetting plastic strengthened with fibre strand and/or fabric reinforcements to provide a strong, corrosion resistant matrix tanks are coated with an interior chemical resin. Their structural layer is composed of chopped glass fibre or filament-wound fibres and resin. Polyethylene storage tanks are either made of linear polyethylene or high-density cross linked polyethylene (XLPE).FRP tanks and process vessels are used in various commercial and industrial applications, including chemical, water & wastewater, food & beverage, mining & metals, power, energy, and high-purity applications.Fibreglass tanks (or GFRP Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic) are available to store water. These tanks must be manufactured with a food-grade coating on their interior surface. The coating is cured before the tanks are offered for sale. One advantage of Fibreglass is that it is very stiff or rigid. There are four main types of fibres commonly used in the FRP industry; glass, carbon, natural and arid. Each has their own advantages and applications.
