Description
Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica), is a nutrient-rich fruit widely used in traditional medicine, cooking, and the cosmetic industry. However, one of the main challenges in processing amla is the removal of its hard seed or stone, which is tightly embedded within the fruit's fibrous pulp. To address this issue, a mechanical device known as an Amla Seed Remover or Amla Destoner is employed.
Purpose of the Amla Seed Remover:
The primary function of an amla seed remover is to efficiently and hygienically separate the seed from the fruit, thereby enabling faster processing for various applications such as drying, juicing, candy preparation, pickling, or powder making. Manual removal is labor-intensive, time-consuming, and inconsistent. The use of a seed remover increases productivity and maintains quality.
Design and Working Principle:
An amla seed remover typically consists of the following components:
Feeding Unit: A hopper or tray where washed amla fruits are placed. Cutting or Crushing Mechanism: Sharp blades or rollers that apply pressure to split the amla into segments while pushing out the seed. Seed and Pulp Separation Chamber: A section where the seed is ejected separately and pulp is collected. Collection Trays: Separate containers for seeds and pulp or amla segments. Manual or Motorized Operation: It can be manually operated with a lever or crank or powered using electricity or a motor for large-scale production.
The working principle involves placing the fruit in the device where it is either crushed or split open, allowing the central seed to be removed while retaining the edible pulp. In more advanced models, the machine may also segment the fruit evenly.
