A gantry crane is a type of overhead crane that uses legs to support the bridge, trolley, and hoist. These legs travel on along the ground on wheels or ride on rails implanted in the ground. A gantry crane is typically used for outdoor applications or for lifting capability below existing overhead bridge crane systems.Gantry girders, also known as crane girders, are used in industrial buildings like processing plants, workshops, steel production, and other similar establishments to carry overhead cranes that are either manually or electrically operated, A crane girder is a preformed metal beam on which the crab or hoist head of a traveling overhead crane runs. Such girders are typically “I” profile beams that may be reinforced at various points depending on the loads and crane configuration involved.A plate girder is a general name for any steel beam comprised of plates. A gantry girder is one which usually supports moving loads from the top of a gantry, for example, in a workshop. It also refers to a girder supporting road signage on a highway gantry.
