Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) printers use ink cartridge-based systems to apply traceability information onto packaging and products such as text, logos, 2D codes and barcodes. TIJ printers can help reduce production costs by printing directly onto packaging and cases, thereby removing the need for labels.There are two main technologies in use in contemporary inkjet printers: continuous (CIJ) and drop-on-demand (DOD). Continuous inkjet means the flow is pressurized and in a continuous stream. Drop-on-demand means the fluid is expelled from the jet nozzle one drop at a time.
