The Avestin Emulsiflex B15 cell disruptor is an air powered, French Press style, high pressure Homogeniser that rapidly disrupts cells while avoiding over processing and protein damage.'High pressure homogeniser' is a general term used to describe a piece of equipment that forces a stream of liquid sample through a system which applies a number of forces to 'homogenise' the sample, that is, to reduce the particle size of its components.Several theories have been proposed to explain the subdivision of fat globules that occurs during homogenization. One of these is cavitation. According to this theory, the fat globules are shattered as the result of the collapse of vapor bubbles formed in regions of high velocity and low pressure.
