Description

High pressure homogeniser' is a general term used to describe a piece of equipment that forces a stream of liquid sample through a system which applies a number of forces to 'homogenise' the sample, that is, to reduce the particle size of its components.High-pressure homogenization is a mechanical technique that achieves cell disruption by shearing cellular jets at high velocity against solid surfaces. Cell suspension is pumped to a high pressure in a compression chamber.Homogenization (known in the pharmaceutical industry as micronization) is the process of reducing the particle sizes of pharmaceutical products, under very high pressures, sheer, turbulence, acceleration and impact, to make them more stable and clinically effective. The high pressure homogenizer (HPH) in pharmaceutical industry is specifically used for size reduction, mixing, and stabilization of dispersions or droplets. In HPH, liquid is passed through a narrow gap under high pressure where the different processing parameters lead to changes in globule/particle size.
