These cylinders are generally single acting and are available in two to five stages. Common mounting options for telescopic cylinders are trunnion and cross-tube.Hydraulic cylinders are actuation devices that use pressurized hydraulic fluid to produce linear motion and force. They are used in a variety of power transfer applications, and can be single or double action.A telescopic cylinder features two or more nested tubes known as stages, reducing in diameter from the outer barrel. The maximum number of stages seems to be six. Theoretically, a cylinder with more stages could be designed but stability becomes an issue. Three or four stage cylinders are quite common.
