Hydraulic Home Elevators are home lifts that move people between floors with a quiet, oil driven piston. A pump pushes oil into a cylinder and the piston rises - when the oil returns to the tank, the cab descends. The doors open plus close by themselves and the pump but also tank sit in a small room next to the shaft. The cab holds six people at once - a four- or five storey house has enough space for the whole family. The lift reaches up to eight floors and moves at 1.2 metres each second. Few moving parts mean little wear - the system runs for years with only an annual oil check. The walls as well as ceiling come in plain glass, wood or painted steel - the cab blends with any hallway or stairwell. A wide door low threshold and push-button panel set at wheelchair height let older people or anyone who walks with difficulty ride without help.
