Commercial Idli Steamer

It has multiple stacked compartments where you just pour in the batter and you need to leave it steaming until you get piping hot idlis. The stack of compartments comprise of stainless steel plates (usually 3 or 4), and each plate has four concave depressions where the idli batter is poured Steam cook for about 12-15 mins on high. The whistle is the indicator of the food steaming in the idli maker. The whistle noise is more when there is water in the Idli maker. Interestingly, Idli originated in Indonesia and is a modified form of “Kedli”, a fermented food which was quite popular in Indonesia.
