Description
Inconel alloy 718 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy also containing significant amounts of iron, niobium and molybdenum along with lesser amounts of aluminum and titanium. It combines corrosion resistance and high strength with outstanding weldability, including resistance to post-weld cracking. The alloy has excellent creep-rupture strength at temperatures to 1300°F (700°C). Used in gas turbines, rocket motors, spacecraft, nuclear reactors, pumps and tooling. INCONEL alloy 718SPF is a special version designed for superplastic forming.STANDARD PRODUCT FORMSPipe, tube, sheet, strip, plate, round bar, flat bar, forgingstock, hexagon, wire and extruded section.MAJOR SPECIFICATIONSUNS N07718, N07719ASTM B 637, B 670ASME SB-637, SB-670DIN 17744, 17750-17754SAE AMS 5589, 5590, 5596,5597, 5662 – 5664, 5832,5914, 5950, 5962Werkstoff Nr. 2.4668ASME Code Cases 1993, 2206,2222, N-62, N-208, N-253NACE MR-0175/ISO 15156AECMA Pr EN 2404,2405, 2407, 2408,2952, 2961, 3219, 3666ISO 6208, 9723 – 9725LIMITING CHEMICAL COMPOSITION, %Nia......50.0 – 55.0Cr....... 17.0 – 21.0Fe.......RemainderNbb.....4.75 – 5.50Mo......2.80 – 3.30aPlus Co. bPlus Ta.Ti.......0.65 – 1.15Al.......0.20 – 0.80Coc......... 1.0 max.C...........0.08 max.Mn........0.35 max.cIf determined.Si..........0.35 max.P......... 0.015 max.S........ 0.015 max.B........ 0.006 max.Cu........0.30 max.PHYSICAL CONSTANTS AND THERMAL PROPERTIESDensity, Ib/in3..........................................................................0.296g/cm3......................................................................... 8.19Melting Point, °F......................................................2300 – 2437°C......................................................1260 – 1336Specific Heat, Btu/lb •°F.....................................................0.104J/kg •°C........................................................... 435Curie Temperature, °F........................................................... -170°C.......................................................... -112Permeability at 200 Oersted (15.9 kA/m).................. 1.0011Coefficient of Expansion, 70 – 200°F, 10-6 in/in •°F........ 7.221 – 93°C, μm/m •°C............. 13.0Thermal Conductivity, Btu • in/ft2•h•°F...............................79W/m•°C........................................... 11.4Electrical Resistivity, ohm • circmil/ft.............................. 751μΩ•m.................................................1.25TYPICAL MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
