Fluid or Fluidised bed dryer is a kind of equipment used extensively in the pharmaceutical industries to reduce the moisture content in raw ingredients like powder and granules. The working principle of this equipment includes fluidization of the fed materials.Fluidized bed dryer (FBD) is well known and widely used equipment in granulation area of pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is used in the granulation process for drying the material to get desired moisture content in the tablet formulation granules required for perfect compression of tablets.The fluid bed granulation process (also known as agglomeration) involves suspending particles in an air stream and spraying a liquid from the top of the system down onto the fluidized bed (top-down spray). Particles in the path of the spray get slightly wet and become sticky.
