Ribbon Mixers are a specific type of powder blenders that consist of 2 parts mounted on a central shaft . The mixing medium often consists of inner and outer helical ribbons that are designed to move material both inwards and outwards.The inner and outer ribbons together rotate the mass of material. The outer ribbon moves the solids toward the center of the tough and the inner ribbon moves solids toward the ends. Mixing time for a fully loaded mixer is typically 15 minutes and is proportional faster for lower loading.Ribbon blenders get their name from the ribbon agitator that makes up part of their design. A U-shaped horizontal trough makes up the rest of the structure of a ribbon blender. The ribbon agitator within the blender is made up of a set of inner and outer helical blades.
