Construction:The unit consists of mixing cum disintegrating blades fixed to a shah housed in well spaced ball bearings and bearing bracket. A stainless steel vessel for holding the samples is provided along with the unit. The unit is driven through V belt and pulleys by An Electric Motor, A suitable time switch and starter for the motor are supplied along with the machine, which are fitted in a compact case. The unit is mounted on M.S. Stand. Operation:For finding pol in cane or bag gases a weighed quantity of the sample alongwith the predetermined quantity of water is disintegrated and mixed in the vessel for a set time. The homogeneous liquid thus formed is filtered by adding lead sub acetate and is polarised for the pol reading. The cane sample takes about twelve minutes where as the bagasse sample takes only about five minutes. For determining fibre in cane or bagasse the above process for a particular sample is repeated or three quantity of water. The liuquid is decanted every time and the fiberous material is dried in the bagasse drier and weighted for finding the fibre%.
