OT Laminar Air Flow

This is described as an entire body of air within a designated space (theatre suite) moving with uniform velocity in a single direction along parallel flow lines. True laminar flow is only achieved when approximately 100% HEPA filter coverage occurs.Laminar air flow uses positive pressure air currents through filtration units to direct air streams away from the operative field in order to create an ultraclean zone around the operative site.The main goal of any good Laminar Air Flow system is to supply clean laminar air over the surgical site with minimal turbulence, providing a comfortable environment and minimizing the risk of surgical site infection.
