Cryogenic Storage Tank

A cryotank or cryogenic tank is a tank that is used to store material at very low temperatures.The space between the inner and outer vessel, containing several inches of insulating material maintained in a vacuum. The vacuum and insulating material help to reduce heat transfer and thereby reduce the boil-off of the liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen or liquid argon stored within the vessel.Cryogenic tanks are used for the storage of cryogenic liquids. Cryogenic liquids are typically liquefied gases at -150 °C or lower. Common gases include oxygen, argon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and helium.Dry cryogenic storage systems have a low risk of cross contamination and have the added benefit of greater safety for the user. Since the LN2 is stored separately to the main sample storage chamber there is no risk of the user coming in to contact with the liquid.
