Machine-Room-Less (MRL) Elevator means an elevator designed so that the driving machine for the unit is located in the hoistway rather than in a separate elevator machine room.Overview/Basic structure. The minimal electricity required to drive rope elevators is available with machine-room-less elevators which have their traction machines and controllers made compact and installed inside the hoistway to eliminate the need for a machine room.The main difference between the machine room and machine roomless elevators is the fact that machine roomless elevators do not require a room for the traction machine and instead the traction machine is placed inside the building shaft.
