Machine-Room-Less (MRL) Elevator means an elevator designed so that the driving machine for the unit is located in the hoistway rather than in a separate elevator machine room.Machine-room-less elevators utilize a gearless traction machine located in the hoistway. The use of a counterweight assists the machine in turning the elevator sheave, which moves the cab through the hoistway.The main difference between the machine room and machine roomless elevators is the fact that machine roomless elevators do not require a room for the traction machine and instead the traction machine is placed inside the building shaft.A dedicated room for computers and related data processing equipment, often having a raised floor, abundant and dedicated air conditioning, and specialized power supply and fire suppression systems.
