Microscopes are a mainstay in life science research but advances in imaging have allowed their use to expand into most areas of science and technology. They are commonly used to view different types of cells, analyze clinical specimens and to scan nanomaterials.Microscopy is the act of using a microscope to view tiny things that cannot be seen with the unaided eye. There are three main types: optical microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, and electron microscopy. Optical microscopes bounce light up objects and use lenses or mirrors to magnify the image.
