The meaning of ELECTRIC FURNACE is a furnace that is heated usually to very high temperatures by an electric current and used especially in industry for, electric furnace, heating chamber with electricity as the heat source for achieving very high temperatures to melt and alloy metals and refractories. The electricity has no electrochemical effect on the metal but simply heats it.Electric furnaces do not use gas or oil, and thus cannot make dangerous oil or gas leaks in your home. They also cannot produce carbon monoxide, so your family is safe from this serious risk. Finally, electric furnaces do not use a fire to heat your home, so they are much less of a fire risk.Furnaces heat air and distribute the heated air through the house using ducts. Boilers heat water, and provide either hot water or steam for heating. Steam is distributed via pipes to steam radiators, and hot water can be distributed via baseboard radiators or radiant floor systems, or can heat air via a coil.They are used to provide heat for a process or can serve as reactor which provides heats of reaction. Furnace designs vary as to its function, heating duty, type of fuel and method of introducing combustion air. Heat is generated by an industrial furnace by mixing fuel with air or oxygen, or from electrical energy.An Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) is used in steelmaking to heat charged material (scrap metal) by means of an electric arc. Furnace temperatures can reach 3200°F (1760°C).
