The fundamental difference between the activated carbon filter and the multigrade filter is- The activated carbon filter works on the principle of adsorption, whereas the multigrade filter works on the principle of retaining and removing physical impurities in a graded manner.An MGF is used in water and wastewater treatment to remove suspended solids, dust and dirt present in the water. The MGF is a depth filter that makes use of coarse and fine media to create pore dimensions that retain large and small suspended particles.The moment generating function has great practical relevance because: it can be used to easily derive moments; its derivatives at zero are equal to the moments of the random variable; a probability distribution is uniquely determined by its mgf.Multi Grade Filters (MGF) are used in water treatment and waste water treatment to remove suspended solids, dust and dirt present in the water.
