It provides efficient filtration, washing, and drying of slurries in a single vessel under vacuum or pressure. 🔧 Construction and Components An Agitated Nutsche Filter typically consists of: Cylindrical Vessel: Made of stainless steel or glass-lined steel, often jacketed for temperature control. Filter Plate: At the bottom, supports a filtering medium (usually sintered mesh or cloth). Agitator: Multi-purpose, used for mixing, smoothing, washing, and cake discharge. It can move vertically and rotate. Drive Mechanism: Powers the agitator. Nozzles/Inlets: For slurry charging, washing liquids, and gas (for pressure or drying). Sight Glass/Light: For internal viewing during processing. Discharge Valve: For removal of the dry cake. Vacuum/Pressure Controls: To operate the system under vacuum or pressure. ⚙️ Working Principle Charging: Slurry is charged into the vessel. Filtration: Pressure or vacuum is applied to filter the liquid through the media, leaving a cake behind. Washing: Wash liquid is introduced to remove impurities or recover product, with agitator aiding uniform washing. Re-filtration: Wash liquid is filtered out. Drying: Filter cake can be dried under vacuum or by heating via the jacket and agitation.
