Overhead Traveling Cranes

A traveling jib crane is one in which the pulley system is suspended from a trolley, or wheeled carriage, moving along the length of the jib, as illustrated in Figure 2. Such traveling cranes usually have lifting capacities of from 5 to 250 tons.To move extremely heavy or bulky loads through the overhead space in a facility, instead of through aisles or on the floor, an overhead crane (also called an industrial crane, crane, or overhead traveling crane is a machine that lifts, lowers and moves a load horizontally. Section 3.4 of the definitions states, Overhead Lifting: that process of lift- ing that would elevate a freely suspended load to such a posi- tion that dropping the load would present a possibility of bod- ily injury or property damage.
