Description

An Everest Electromagnetic Flow Transmitter (or Magnetic Flowmeter) is a device used to measure the flow rate of conductive fluids, leveraging Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction. It's widely used in industries like water treatment, chemical processing, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals. Working Principle Faraday's Law: When a conductive fluid flows through a magnetic field, it induces a voltage proportional to the fluid's velocity. Components: Electrodes: Detect the voltage generated by the flowing fluid. Magnetic Coils: Generate a magnetic field across the flow tube. Flow Tube: Carries the fluid and provides a non-conductive lining to isolate the electrodes. Key Features No Moving Parts: Ensures durability and low maintenance. High Accuracy: ±0.2% to ±1% of the measured value. Wide Range of Applications: Effective for a variety of conductive fluids (e.g., water, chemicals, slurries). Pressure and Temperature Resistance: Suitable for harsh environments. Bi-Directional Flow Measurement: Can measure flow in both directions. Output Options: Provides analog (4-20 mA), pulse, or digital communication (e.g., HART, Modbus, Profibus). Applications Water and Wastewater Management: Measuring flow in treatment plants. Chemical Industry: Monitoring corrosive or viscous liquids. Food and Beverage: Measuring ingredients like milk, juice, or syrups. Pharmaceuticals: For precise liquid measurement during production. Power Plants: Measuring cooling water flow in turbines. Advantages No Obstruction: No pressure drop, as the flow tube is free of obstacles. Versatility: Works with fluids containing particulates or slurries. Minimal Maintenance: No wear and tear due to the absence of moving parts. Wide Size Range: Available for small to large pipe diameters. Limitations Conductivity Requirement: Only works with fluids that are electrically conductive (typically >5 µS/cm). Non-Conductive Fluids: Cannot measure hydrocarbons or gases. Initial Cost: Higher compared to some other flow meter types. Installation Considerations Proper Grounding: Ensures accurate measurements by minimizing electrical interference. Full Pipe Condition: The flow tube should always be full of fluid for accurate readings. Straight Pipe Lengths: Requires a certain length of straight pipe before and after the meter to reduce flow disturbances (e.g., 5-10 times the pipe diameter upstream, 3-5 times downstream). Orientation: Horizontal or vertical installation depending on the application; electrodes should be aligned horizontally to avoid air bubble interference.
