Passenger Lift

A passenger lift is a type of lift that is designed to take passengers up and down a vertical lift shaft. Cabin and shaft sizes can vary in a passenger lift, but they are usually completely enclosed. Possible lifting mechanisms for a passenger lift include pneumatic, traction and hydraulic lifting methods.Passenger lifts are favoured where speed, traffic flow and capacity are prime considerations. Typically, platform lifts are most suited for applications in low rise buildings where people are likely to use the stairs or buildings not easily accessible for the disabled.An elevator has a totally enclosed cab and requires a shaft. A shaft is a wall enclosure that surrounds the cab and the machinery. A lift typically has an open cab, except for 42” panels on the sides of the platform. Lifts are generally more basic and lower cost than elevators.The hydraulic elevators work on the hydraulic cylinder principle that uses hydraulic fluids to push a piston inside a cylinder that in turn raises and lowers the passenger lift. The hydraulic fluids like oil or other in compressible fluids are used.Hydraulic and electric or cable-driven elevators are the two most common types. Each of these two types can be found in both commercial and residential settings. Hydraulic elevators have a basic design of a car attached to a lifting system. The car, inside the shaft is attached to guide rails or a rope.
