An injection moulding machine (also spelled as injection moulding machine in BrE), also known as an injection press, is a machine for manufacturing plastic products by the injection moulding process. It consists of two main parts, an injection unit and a clamping unit.Injection moulding is a method to obtain moulded products by injecting plastic materials molten by heat into a mold, and then cooling and solidifying them. The method is suitable for the mass production of products with complicated shapes, and takes a large part in the area of plastic processing.Injection moulding is a forming process using moulds. Materials such as synthetic resins (plastics) are heated and melted, and then sent to the mold where they are cooled to form the designed shape. Due to the resemblance to the process of injecting fluids using a syringe, this process is called injection moulding.An injection moulding machine is comprised of four main components: the base, the hopper, the barrel, and the clamping unit. There are also smaller components such as the nozzle, ejector pins, split mold, clamping unit, injection unit and hydraulic unit.
