Description
A Polyurethane (PU) Tube is a high-performance flexible pipe that combines the best properties of both plastic and rubber. It is widely regarded as the industry standard for pneumatic (air-powered) systems due to its exceptional toughness and "memory" (it returns to its original shape after bending).
Material: Polyurethane (available in Ether-based for water resistance or Ester-based for oil/abrasion resistance). Hardness: Typically Shore 95A or 98A (stiff but flexible). Temperature Range: Remains functional from -40°C to +80°C. Operating Pressure: Generally handles up to 10 bar (145 PSI), with burst pressures much higher ($3:1$ or $4:1$ safety factor). Bending Radius: Exceptional; it can navigate extremely tight corners without kinking or restricting flow.
Kink Resistance: Unlike PVC, which can permanently crease, PU tubing can be folded or twisted and will snap back to its original form without damage. High Abrasion Resistance: It is roughly 3–4 times more resistant to wearing and tearing than rubber or PVC, making it ideal for moving robotic parts. Chemical Stability: Highly resistant to fuels, oils, and many common solvents. Tight Tolerances: Manufactured with very precise outer diameters (OD), making it perfectly compatible with Push-to-Connect (one-touch) fittings without leaking. Vibrant Colors: Often available in transparent, blue, orange, black, and green to help identify different air or fluid lines in a complex machine.
