Description
1. DCDB (Direct Current Distribution Box) The DCDB is installed between the solar panels and the inverter. Its main job is to handle the raw electricity generated by the panels. Primary Function: Consolidates DC power from multiple strings of panels and sends it safely to the inverter. Key Components: DC SPD (Surge Protection Device): Protects the inverter from voltage spikes, often caused by lightning or static. DC Fuse/MCB: Trips or blows if there is an overcurrent or short circuit on the panel side. DC Isolator: A manual switch that allows you to cut off power from the panels for safe maintenance. Protection: It primarily protects the inverter from faults occurring at the panel level. 2. ACDB (Alternating Current Distribution Board) The ACDB is installed after the inverter, between the inverter and your home's electrical load (or the grid). Primary Function: Receives the converted AC power from the inverter and distributes it to your appliances or the utility grid. Key Components: AC SPD: Protects the inverter and your home appliances from surges coming from the utility grid. AC MCB/MCCB: Protects the system from overloads on the house/grid side. Energy Meter (Optional): Many ACDBs include a meter to track how many units of electricity the solar system has actually produced.
