A High Feed Cutter (or High-Feed Mill) is a specialized milling tool designed for extremely fast material removal by using a small depth of cut (DOC) with a high feed per tooth, creating thin chips due to a small entry angle (lead angle). This process, known as "chip thinning," directs cutting forces axially into the spindle, reducing vibrations, increasing stability, and extending tool life, making them ideal for roughing, deep pocketing, and difficult materials like stainless steel and Inconel.
