3M Cold Applied Terminal Right Angle Boots (often referred to as the 92-EE 717-1 Barrier Boot System) are high-voltage insulating shrouds designed to protect electrical connections in switchgear, transformers, and ring main units (RMU). Unlike heat-shrink versions, these are "cold-applied," meaning they require no heat or special tools for installation. Core ApplicationThese boots are used in indoor environments where air clearances between phases or to the earth are insufficient for normal operation. Material: Constructed from high-performance tracking-resistant EPDM rubber. Temperature Range: Operates in ambient temperatures from -40°C to +50°C, with short-term peaks up to 60°C. Cable Compatibility: Accommodates cable cross-sections ranging from 50 to 300 sq mm (and up to 630 sq mm for specific variants). Bushing Size: Designed to fit circular bushings with diameters between 40mm and 70mm. Corrugated Design: A unique corrugated center allows the same boot to be used for both straight and right-angle applications. Key Features Push-On Installation: The boots exert a constant radial compressive force on the sealing surfaces, ensuring water tightness without needing adhesive tapes. Re-usable: They can be easily removed and reinstalled for inspection or maintenance without requiring new materials. Versatility: Fully compatible with both Cold Shrink and Heat Shrink cable terminations. Durability: The material is resistant to ozone, UV radiation, and severe weathering.
