Ro Membranes

A reverse osmosis membrane is a semi-permeable membrane that allows the passage of water molecules but not the majority of dissolved salts, organics, bacteria and pyrogens.A reverse osmosis system removes sediment and chlorine from water with a prefilter before it forces water through a semipermeable membrane to remove dissolved solids. After water exits the RO membrane, it passes through a postfilter to polish the drinking water before it enters a dedicated faucet.RO membranes are typically either cellulose acetate or polysulfone coated with aromatic polyamides3. NF membranes are made from cellulose acetate blends or polyamide composites like the RO membranes, or they could be modified forms of UF membranes such as sulfonated polysulfone10.
